| Officer Fred Shumaker is a seasoned veteran of 23 years with Redondo Beach PD. He's been on the Kawasaki KZ1000 for all of his last 14 years on motors and recommends the bike for it's quick response off the line and agility. He's in charge of maintaining and ordering motorcycle equipment for the Department and says, "Our PVP equipment works great; we can depend on getting through to dispatch clearly - regardless of the environment we're in. I also don't have to worry about this stuff failing, and the officer down time associated with repair".
The Officer says one of his more memorable traffic stops included citing a citizen who suddenly dialed 911 from his cell phone, requesting that a "real CHiP's Officer" be dispatched to the location.
Officer Shumaker is very involved in competitive barefoot water-skiing, and has reached speeds approaching the world record. He currently holds the world record for most waterway citations received while attempting
